IKO Gutter Replacement: The Austin Owner’s Guide

If you have IKO gutters that are leaking, pulling away from the fascia, or rusting through, we stock IKO-compatible replacement sections and can typically swap them out in one visit. Installed replacement in Austin runs roughly $9 to $18 per linear foot for standard 5-inch aluminum, depending on accessibility and how much of the run is failing. Most homeowners discover the problem the same way: a section of gutter sagged after a heavy storm, or water started pouring over the edge in one spot while the rest of the run works fine.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s gutter line is straightforward compared to their shingle catalog, but there’s one compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: IKO gutters come in both 5-inch and 6-inch profiles, and you can’t splice them together without a visible seam and a flow restriction. The 6-inch profile is common on larger roof sections and commercial-style residential builds. Check the inside width of your gutter at the end cap with a tape measure. If it reads 5 inches across the top opening, order 5-inch replacement sections. If it reads 6, order 6. Labeling helps too: IKO stamps their profile size on the back side of the gutter, so a quick look from behind the drip edge can confirm what you’re working with before you buy anything.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: most IKO gutters are standard K-style aluminum profiles. A quality aftermarket section from a supplier we trust will match the profile and gauge. We carry both OEM IKO sections when available and aftermarket equivalents that match the profile dimensions exactly. That’s the difference between a repair that disappears and one you’ll point at every time you pull in the driveway.

Signs Your IKO Gutter Replacement Is Failing

  • Water spilling over the front edge in one spot. This usually means the gutter has sagged out of pitch, or a seam has opened up. The gutter is still catching water; it just can’t direct it where it needs to go.
  • Rust blooms or pinhole leaks on the underside. Aluminum doesn’t rust, but the screws and hangers holding it up often do, especially here in Central Texas where wet-dry cycling is brutal on exposed fasteners. Pinholes in aluminum itself usually mean electrolysis from contact with a dissimilar metal.
  • The gutter pulling away from the fascia board. This is a hanger failure, not a gutter failure. If we catch it early, we can often resecure the existing run without replacing the section. If it’s been pulling for a while, the gutter is likely bent past the point of saving.
  • Dark streaks or green staining on the exterior face. This is a block-and-overflow pattern. Water is backing up, sitting, and then cascading over. The fix might be as simple as cleaning and sealing an IKO end cap or as involved as replacing a crushed downspout connection. Either way, we’ll tell you which before we touch anything.
  • Visible gaps at the seam between sections. IKO sections are designed to mate cleanly. If you can see daylight through the seam, the gasket has failed or the sections have shifted. Water is getting onto your fascia every time it rains, and the longer it runs, the more wood rot you’re financing.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Austin, expect $9 to $18 per linear foot installed for standard 5-inch IKO-compatible aluminum gutter replacement. A typical 30-foot run runs $270 to $540. That price includes removing the old section, installing new matching gutter, new hangers spaced properly, sealing the seams, and hauling off the old material. Second-story work and steep roof pitches push toward the higher end. We put the full written price in your hand before any work starts, and if something changes once we’re up there, you hear about it before we do anything, not after.

Every IKO gutter replacement we do carries the same written guarantee as any Tilehurst Roofing repair. If it fails inside the guarantee period, we come back and correct it at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. That’s not a verbal promise; it’s on paper, in your hands, before we leave the driveway.

DIY or Call Us?

You can absolutely inspect your IKO gutters safely from the ground with binoculars. Look for the sagging, the gaps, and the rust spots we listed above. You can also clean debris out of the gutter from a ladder if you’re comfortable with heights and the ladder is set on level ground. What you shouldn’t do is remove and replace a section of IKO gutter yourself if the damage is mid-run or at a corner mitre. Gutters are deceptively heavy when full of water, the aluminum is easy to kink if handled wrong, and a 20-foot section swinging off a ladder will win an argument with your wrist every single time.

Add to that the water damage a misaligned seam causes, and the math starts favoring a pro. Give us a call at (254) 540-7345 and Greg Holloway or one of our crew can look at it and tell you whether it’s a resecure job or a true section replacement, with the price in writing before anything comes off the house.
