IKO Roof Repair in Austin: What to Know First

IKO roof repair in Austin typically runs $350 – $850 for most shingle and flashing jobs, and we can usually have a crew on your roof within a few days of your call. We’re an independent IKO service provider, which means we repair the roof you have without pushing a replacement you don’t need. If you’re seeing granule loss, curling shingles, or water stains on the ceiling, call (254) 540-7345 and we’ll give you a straight number before any work starts.

This page is for Austin homeowners who bought an IKO roof and want it fixed right, by people who understand how IKO shingles behave in Central Texas heat and storms. Greg Holloway runs our Austin crew, and he’s been reading roofs in this city long enough to know which failures are normal wear and which ones need attention this week.

How IKO Products Fail – and How We Fix Them

  • Cambridge granule loss at the shingle edges. IKO’s Cambridge line is common across Austin neighborhoods, and after 8 – 10 years of Texas sun, the ceramic granules start washing off at the edges. Homeowners notice what looks like black sand in the gutters. This isn’t just cosmetic – once the asphalt core is exposed, UV light breaks it down fast. We replace the affected shingles and check whether the granule loss is isolated or systemic across the roof plane.
  • Marquis curling at the tabs. IKO Marquis shingles tend to curl at the corners when attic ventilation is inadequate, and in Austin’s attic temperatures that happens faster than most installers expect. A curled tab catches wind like a sail, so the first big storm rips it loose. Our repair involves replacing the curled shingles, but we’ll also check the ridge vent and soffit airflow – patching curls without fixing ventilation means we’ll be back next year with the same problem.
  • Valley leak points at the IKO warranty seam. IKO’s installation instructions are specific about how shingles must be cut and sealed in valleys, and we regularly see leaks in Austin homes where the original installer took a shortcut. The water gets under the shingle at the valley center and follows the decking into the house. We pull the valley, re-cut it properly, and install new underlayment before relaying the shingles.
  • Vent boot and pipe-collar failures above IKO decks. This one’s less about IKO and more about the roofing system around it, but it’s the most common leak source we find on IKO roofs in Austin. The rubber boot around a plumbing vent cracks after a decade of heat, and water runs straight down into the house. We replace the collar with a high-quality aftermarket boot, and if the surrounding IKO shingles are sealed properly, we reuse them.
  • Wind-lifted starter strip on older IKO installs. The starter course – the first row of shingles at the eave – is the roof’s first line against wind-driven rain. On older IKO roofs installed before prevailing code changes, we sometimes find the starter was nailed too high or poorly adhered, leaving the eave exposed. In Travis Heights and other neighborhoods with mature tree canopy and gusty storm patterns, we see this regularly. Our fix is to reset the starter course and re-seal the eave edge, then verify the drip edge is intact.

Our IKO Roof Repair Process

  1. 1
You call (254) 540-7345. A live person answers, day or night. You describe what you’re seeing – a stain, a missing shingle, granules in the gutter – and we schedule a visit in a window that works.
  2. 2
We inspect the roof and show you what we found. Greg or one of our senior techs walks the roof, takes photos, and explains exactly what’s failing and why. You’ll understand the problem before you spend a dollar.
  3. 3
You get a written price before any work starts. We price the repair in dollars, not estimates. The number on that sheet is the number you pay. No change orders, no “we found more damage” adjustments unless you explicitly approve them in writing.
  4. 4
We choose the right parts. For warranty-sensitive areas, we use IKO or IKO-equivalent shingles when we can color-match. For accessory components like vent boots, pipe collars, and flashing, we use high-quality aftermarket products that outperform the original in Central Texas conditions. We’ll tell you which is which and why it matters.
  5. 5
We complete the repair and test it. Depending on the job, we test with water or inspect from inside the attic to confirm the leak path is closed. We don’t call a repair done until we’ve verified it.
  6. 6
You get a written guarantee before we leave. Every repair is covered in writing. If it fails inside the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise.

“Tell me the roof, I’ll tell you the price – no surprises once we’re up there.”

What IKO Roof Repair Costs in Austin

Most IKO repairs in Austin fall between $350 and $850, and the majority are done in a single visit. A simple shingle replacement – a dozen tabs or fewer – typically runs $350 – $550 including materials and labor. A flashing repair around a chimney, skylight, or wall junction usually lands between $450 – $750, depending on access and the condition of the surrounding shingles. Valley rebuilds are the higher-end jobs, typically $650 – $1,100, because we’re pulling and relaying a larger area.

Repair Type Typical Austin Price Range
Shingle replacement (up to a dozen tabs) $350 – $550
Vent boot replacement $350 – $500
Flashing repair (chimney, wall, skylight) $450 – $750
Valley rebuild $650 – $1,100
Flat roof patch (modified bitumen) $500 – $900

What moves the price is mostly roof height, pitch, and access. A two-story IKO roof in Allandale costs more to work on than a one-story in Brentwood because of ladder setup and safety equipment. If the decking underneath is rotted, that’s additional, but we’ll show you the damage and get your approval in writing before we touch it. Call (254) 540-7345 for a free estimate – the number we give you is the number you pay.

Tilehurst Roofing Austin is part of the Kingswell family of roofing companies, founded in 2000, and we built this location for homeowners who’ve been burned before. We carry material options from seven manufacturers – GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral – so when we recommend a product, it’s because it fits your home, not because it’s what’s on the truck. And every repair is covered by a written guarantee, delivered before the crew leaves, under the 365-Day Done Right Promise.

Greg Holloway has been working Austin roofs since long before he hung the Tilehurst sign here. He learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, then left flat stucco behind for Texas heat, hail, and everything in between. He’s repaired IKO roofs from Cedar Park to Buda, and he reads a roof the way other people read a weather report – quickly, accurately, without drama. When the next storm rolls through, you’ll want a roofer who already knows your roof.
